PokerStars presented on Monday the result from its brand-new collaboration with Usain Bolt. To celebrate the end of the world-renowned athlete’s spectacular career, PokerStars has developed a branded product bearing the sports celebrity’s name.
Players at PokerStars are now able to play the special Zoom poker edition at Usain Bolt-branded tables.
Zoom poker is one of the most popular cash game formats among PokerStars players. Playing it, participants are able to see their opponents change after every single hand, which secures unmatched and extremely dynamic action. The format also allows players to fold whenever they find fit and to even take advantage of a special ‘Fast Fold’ option.
The special edition of the game offers players freerolls, missions to accomplish, Bolt-themed puzzles and many more additional features that all reflect the athlete’s remarkable career.
Bolt bid farewell to athletics at the World Championship in Athletics, which took place in London between August 4-13. Due to his numerous achievements over the course of his career, the Jamaican is generally considered to be the greatest sprinter of our time. Bolt is the reigning Olympic champion in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 x 100 meters relay and boast numerous more medals and titles from the world’s most prestigious competitions.
Now retired from sports, he will be able to focus on another passion of his – the game of poker. It was announced earlier this year that Bolt would join PokerStars’ team of sports stars who are working with the brand for its popularization. Together with other brand ambassadors, the legendary athlete will be taking part in different initiatives related to the poker operator’s both online and live poker activities.
PokerStars is part of Canadian gambling giant The Stars Group, which recently completed its planned rebranding from Amaya Inc. The poker operator has long been its parent company’s leading brand, generating a significant portion of its revenue.
The Stars Group reported online poker revenue of $202.9 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2017. The gambling group’s overall revenue for the aforementioned period totaled $305.3 million. And while the company has managed to establish PokerStars as the world’s leading online poker operator, it has said that it will now focus its attention to expand and establish its online sportsbook and casino operations, revenue from which increased more than 50% year-on-year during the second quarter of the year to almost $90 million.
The Stars Group has recently said that it would pursue merger and acquisition opportunities now as it has completed its rebranding and has unburdened itself from previous debts. The company would look for a suitable sports betting and casino partner to improve its performance and secure wider presence in regulated jurisdictions in different parts of the world.
